Submitted by Sweet Retreat on Mon, 03/17/2008 - 22:35.The Heineken Beer Cap Cake was well suited for a 19th Birthday Celebration, and is the perfect color for being on March 17th... St. Patrick's Day! This cake serves approx. 25 guests and is a vanilla cake with a lemon zest filling and a light lemon buttercream and fondant finish. from start to finish this creation took just over 5 hours to complete.
Step #1 to making this cake is start with 2-12" round cake with a light crumb coat.
Step #2 pipe out the rounded edge shape in buttercream icing.
Step #3 wrap a thin layer of fondant icing around the piped edge to keep the edge in place.
Step #4 cover the whole cake with fondant icing.
Step #5 using an air brush, spray the sides the desired color. Cover the top of the cake.
Step #6 air brush the center and hand paint in the thin line at the far edge.
Step #7 hand paint the thin line at the center and cut a star out of red fondant.
Step #8 cut out desired lettering in fondant to create the cap of your favorite brand of beer.
